SC Borbense – 15th Fishing Get-together

Our club once again upheld a tradition that has become an integral part of the Festivities in Honour of Senhor Jesus dos Aflitos: the SC Borbense Fishing Get-together.

The event took place on the morning of Sunday 16 August at the Monte Branco Reservoir, kindly made available by the Casa de Bragança Foundation, bringing together 32 sport fishing enthusiasts, divided into two groups.

A word of thanks to Borba Town Council, which carried out work on the access roads, making it easier for light vehicles to enter the site. As for the fish, there was just enough!

But, as always, the most important thing was the wholesome and cheerful get-together, the friendship and the spirit of camaraderie that once again characterised this event, a tradition at this time of year and during the Borba Festivities.

And because good company is also enjoyed around the table, we had the traditional tomato soup, this time prepared by the cook Arminda Cachapela and her team, to whom we extend a very special thank you. SC Borbense, meanwhile, was responsible for providing the rest of the meal, because a good meal isn’t just about soup!

All participants were presented with a prize and a souvenir, kindly donated by parish councils, companies and businesspeople from our region.

As a memento of this 15th Gathering, all participants also received a bottle of Adega de Borba white wine and a bottle of Marcolino Sebo Wines and Oils red wine.

A special thank you to Eliseu Fusco and the tireless directors Eunice Alcaria, Jorge Quaresma and his son, Bernardino Nascimento and Ruben Lourenço, as well as to our friend “Cardinal”, who once again sprang into action to offer us invaluable help.
