SC Borbense | UEFA C Football Coaching Course – Zona dos Mármores (Borba)

For some time now, SC Borbense has been seeking to contribute to the decentralisation of initiatives, courses and training programmes that are usually concentrated in Évora, arguing that the Zona dos Mármores also deserves access to these opportunities.

It was with this in mind that we once again proposed to the AFE Board that a UEFA C Football Coaches’ Course be held in the Zona dos Mármores – not necessarily in Borba, but in a location that would allow interested parties from our region to attend this training without having to travel long distances.

From the outset, SC Borbense undertook to ensure that the necessary conditions were in place for the course to be held in Borba. We made all the necessary contacts with those responsible for the venues to be used and worked to make this initiative a reality.

Initially, everything pointed towards the formation of a class and the resumption of a course of this nature in the Zona dos Mármores.

However, for reasons that only those responsible can explain, it was not possible to recruit the 12 trainees required for the course to go ahead.

Faced with this ‘U-turn’, the AFE Board decided to postpone the course until April/May 2027.

It is a decision we deeply regret, because those who ultimately lose out are, above all, the participants, the clubs and football in the Zona dos Mármores.

SC Borbense also regrets this situation. It was we who sought this opportunity from the AFE; it was we who put ourselves forward; and it was we who sought to create the conditions so that the course could take place here, closer to the people and clubs in our region, rather than some 120 km from home.

We would therefore like to express our gratitude to all those who honoured their word and went ahead with their registration, just as they had initially advocated.

We will continue to champion decentralisation, our region and opportunities for our players, coaches and clubs. Because we believe that this is also how we contribute to the development of football. It really is fair to say: we are neither better nor worse.
